Munich’s municipal transport company (MVG) presented a bus to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial

At the request of the International Auschwitz Committee and with the support of Dr Hans Jochen Vogel, Munich’s municipal transport company (MVG) presented a bus to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial at the Marienplatz in Munich on 30 October 2008. In the photograph, from left to right, Christoph Heubner, MVG-CEO Herbert König, Munich’s mayor Christian Ude, the Memorial’s deputy director Krystyna Oleksy and Dr Vogel. The bus will convey visitors between the memorials in Auschwitz and Birkenau. A woman who happened to be passing by and asked what was happening commented:"We’re all for it. It’s a good present for an important place."
