Israel’s President Shimon Peres paid a state visit to Germany from 25 to 28 January 2010. He and his delegation were accompanied by a group of Holocaust survivors led by the President of the International Auschwitz Committee Noach Flug. During their days in Berlin the survivors, who were looked after by the International Auschwitz Committee (IAC), also met and talked with school classes from the city and trainees from Volkswagen Coaching. The climax of the Israeli President’s visit was unquestionably the speech he gave on 27 January, when he addressed the German Bundestag to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz.
