The Coordinating Office of the IAC

In June 2002 the decision was taken in Oswiecim to open a coordinating office for the International Auschwitz Committee in Berlin and apply to the German government for organizational and financial assistance.

In June 2003 the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and the International Auschwitz Committee signed an agreement on financial subsidies. On this basis, the IAC has received institutional financial support from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior since 2004.

The IAC took up office rooms on the premises of the Memorial of German Resistance in Berlin, already in 2003. The formal activities of the IAC in Germany were officially opened on 1 October 2003 by the IAC President Noach Flug from Jerusalem and Otto Schily, German Federal Minister of the Interior at that time.
Early in 2005, the IAC presented itself with an exhibition at the UN headquarters. The UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and his wife welcomed a delegation of the IAC and visited the exhibition on Auschwitz.

On 26 January 2006 the UN Secretary General received representatives of the IAC in Zurich, Switzerland.
