In cooperation with the Federal State Representation of Lower Saxony, the International Auschwitz Committee is marking the run-up to the worldwide remembrance ceremonies for the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Starting on Wednesday 20 January, the IAC will be showing the exhibition “What have I achieved? – Auschwitz survivors take stock” on the fence of the Federal State Representation of Lower Saxony.

With this exhibition in Berlin, such a major centre of remembrance, the IAC is starting its activities surrounding this year’s 76th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz, which will be continued over the following weeks in many countries. Commenting on the exhibition in Berlin, Christoph Heubner, the Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, said:

"Our exhibition brings together Auschwitz survivors and their descendants from many countries. How have they taken stock of their lives, which emotions, fears and hopes are driving them – especially in view of current political developments? What will remain of their memories and experiences that they have repeatedly revealed to the world to ensure that future generations are not overcome by anti-Semitic hatred, racism and right-wing extremist violence?"

The exhibition is showing in Berlin from 20 through 31 January 2021 on the fence of the Federal State Representation of Lower Saxony, opposite the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Hannah-Arendt-Strasse. On Wednesday 20 January, at 12:30 pm, Christoph Heubner will be at the exhibition site to provide information and answer questions.
