Speaking in Berlin on the death of Gabriel Bach, deputy state prosecutor in the Eichmann Trial, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee said:

“The Eichmann Trial was one of the most important signals for the survivors of the Holocaust that the murder of their relatives would be pursued by justice, and that the Nazi perpetrators would have nowhere to hide on the face of this Earth. Gabriel Bach spoke in this trial on behalf of the survivors and those who were murdered, not only as prosecutor, but also as a survivor. The fact that a 34-year-old Jew, who was born in Germany, escaped at the last minute to Amsterdam and then to Palestine, stood facing Eichmann as a prosecutor in court in Jerusalem, was immensely satisfying to the survivors of the Holocaust. They are bidding farewell to Gabriel Bach with deepest gratitude.”
