Remembrance and educational visit to Kraków, Oświęcim and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.

Since 2005 we have been enabling visits to Auschwitz for interested people aged 18 or over, irrespective of their previous levels of knowledge or discourse. We have many years of experience working together with survivors of Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp, as well as visiting Auschwitz Memorial together with them. Based on this longstanding experience and our work with the Stiftung Auschwitz-Komitee foundation, we are offering to organise and design the contents of group visits.

Since it is necessary to book accommodation for larger groups in Oświęcim more than a year in advance, the date of the next visit has already been fixed.

Our next visit is taking place from Tuesday 22 March 2022 (departing in the morning from Hamburg) untilWednesday 30 March 2022 (arrival in the evening in Hamburg).

Management and organisation for the Stiftung Auschwitz-Komitee foundation:

Ike Büscher, Moritz Terfloth.

Expenses

The cost of the visit lies between €850 and €950 per person (the final amount depends on the number of participants). The price includes the outward and return journey, all overnight stays (in a room for two persons), all meals (except for three meals in Kraków) and all entrance and guided tour fees. The final cost of the visit has risen since the development of the Coronavirus pandemic. This applies especially to the price of accommodation in Kraków and the travel costs.

Some participants may have difficulty funding their visit. We want to ensure that the wish to take part is not hindered by a lack of funds. In this case, please contact us as soon as possible, so that we can organise financial support in good time.

Outgoing journey

We will be travelling from Hamburg to Kraków and back again by train. For the transfer journeys in Kraków and the journey to and from Oświęcim we have organised two self-drive minibuses (9-seaters). We need drivers for these buses, i.e. participants who have a driving licence and feel confident about driving a minibus on journeys of 100 km at the most.

Preparatory meeting

There will be a half-day preparatory meeting in Hamburg. Experiences from previous visits have shown that it is very useful to take part in this meeting. The date will be provided in good time and will be between one and two months before the journey begins.

Educational leave

An application will be made for recognition as educational leave according to the Hamburg Law on Educational Leave. It has always been granted for previous visits.

Programme overview 22 – 30 March 2022

Status as of: 2 November 2021, additions and changes possible
We will provide a detailed programme with the proposed final schedule at the preparatory meeting. We have designed the programme so that it offers sufficient time and opportunities for reflection and exchanges. We are planning to have daily talks about questions and impressions.

We can talk about possible themes we would like to address and possible itinerary additions during the preparatory meeting. Our accommodation, the International Youth Meeting Center (IYMC), offers a very suitable atmosphere plus the use of various rooms and types of media.
