Exhibition "There was a time... Jewish Family Photographs before 1939"

January 17 - February 10, 2023

UNESCO will host the Wiener Holocaust Library exhibition “There was a time... Jewish Family Photographs Before 1939” on the exterior fences of UNESCO to reflect on the richness and diversity of Jewish life in Europe before the Second World War.

The exhibition pays tribute to the individuality and humanity of the Jewish men, women and children who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators, and raises awareness of the lost communities and cultures across Europe.

The exhibition is supported by the Permanent Delegation of Germany to UNESCO.

Worldwide screening of Ari Folman's "Where's Anne Frank!" by UNESCO field offices.

“Where is Anne Frank” is largely based on the diary of Anne Frank. The film recounts the fate of the families in the secret annex in Amsterdam during the Holocaust and describes the situation in present-day Europe from the point of view of Kitty, Anne’s imaginary friend.

To mark the International Day, the Anne Frank Fonds is making the film available for UNESCO Field Offices across the world.
