In Berlin Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, commented on the behaviour of the AfD politician Holger Winterstein at the Holocaust Memorial saying:

"The behaviour of the AfD politician Holger Winterstein at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe was despicable: He insults Holocaust survivors and mocks their murdered family members. The survivors of the Holocaust do not accept Winterstein’s cynical and tasteless, so-called apology. They hope that this example opens the eyes of people in Germany and shows them exactly how far this inhuman, contemptuous and anti-Semitic mentality has been able to develop within Herr Höcke’s party."
