In a radio interview in July 2025, the well-known Polish anti-Semite and Member of the European Parliament, Grzegorz Braun, stated, amongst other things, that ‘ritual murder is a fact, whereas for example, Auschwitz with its gas chambers, is unfortunately a fabrication’.
In response to the journalist’s follow-up question, he stated that ‘the pseudo-historical presentation offered by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum consists of material which does not, in every detail, meet the criteria of historical-scientific methodology’. He went on to add ‘that investigations into the gas chambers are being prevented by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum itself.’ The journalist broke off the interview following Braun’s remarks.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum filed a complaint against Braun following these remarks. Yesterday, the Court of Appeal in Kraków ordered Braun to refrain from repeating the aforementioned remarks, either verbally or in writing, and to desist with immediate effect from making any comments that damage the museum’s good reputation and standing. Furthermore, the Warsaw Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into Grzegorz Braun’s denial of Nazi crimes at the Auschwitz concentration camp.
During a visit to the Auschwitz Memorial, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice-President of the International Auschwitz Committee, emphasised: ‘Grzegorz Braun is notorious throughout Europe for his anti-Semitic hatred and his misanthropic outbursts. His attack on the management and staff of the Auschwitz Museum has outraged survivors and their families far beyond Poland’s borders. The fact that Braun’s brazen lies are attracting ever more attention, and that he is evidently gaining more and more followers, deeply troubles the survivors.’
