Auschwitz survivors around the globe are delighted and congratulate Arnold Schwarzenegger on being awarded an honorary doctorate by the Hertie School in Berlin today. Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, said during a visit to the Auschwitz Memorial:

"The survivors of Auschwitz regard Arnold Schwarzenegger as an important ally. His repeated visits to the Auschwitz Memorial and his encounters with survivors of the camp have deeply moved them. Above all, however, they are grateful to him for his worldwide messages opposing the destructive violence of hatred and the poison of anti-Semitism, which he has addressed to young people in particular. Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t speak down to people. Rather, he speaks at eye level, with a voice that is honest, sincere and compassionate. The survivors of Auschwitz are deeply grateful to him for his personal stance and his important political and educational statements, especially in this time of division and hatred."
