Presentation of the Hungarian translation of the book "Ich sehe Hunde, die an der Leine reißen" (Kutyákat látok, akik feszítik a pórázt / I see dogs straining at their leashes) by Christoph Heubner in memory of the Auschwitz survivor and translator Éva Fahidi.
In his story collection "Ich sehe Hunde, die an der Leine reißen" (Kutyákat látok, akik feszítik a pórázt / I see dogs straining at their leashes), Christoph Heubner lends his literary voice to the victims of the Holocaust in three quite different forms of stories. The book was translated into Hungarian by Éva Fahidi and Zsuzsanna Iványi and published by the Wesley Verlag.
On 21 February 2024 the translator Zsuzsanna Iványi read passages from the Hungarian translation at the FUGA Budapest Center of Architecture.
For many decades Christoph Heubner has accompanied survivors of the Nazi extermination camps. He has listened not only to their dreadful stories but also to their accounts of rescues and new beginnings. As a co-founder of the International Youth Meeting Centre Auschwitz he has met innumerable times with young people and passed on the stories and testimonies that survivors have entrusted to him.
