In Berlin Christoph Heubner, the Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, made a statement on the attack against the synagogue in Ulm:

"We are shocked that yet another attack has taken place, this time against the synagogue in Ulm. It seems superfluous and ignorant to question whether Jewish facilities should be better protected, not only in Baden-Württemberg, following the experiences of the recent months and years in Germany.

Each new attack on Jewish buildings sparks fear and despair in Holocaust survivors that the battle against anti-Semitism has in fact long since been lost, and that they are leaving a world to their children and grandchildren in which a new Auschwitz could be possible. Have people actually understood that their democracy is also being destroyed in these upheavals of anti-Semitic hatred?"
