For the first time ever, the International Auschwitz Committee will be taking part in the Leipzig Book Fair. It will be presenting books and brochures from its work which focus on the memories, feelings and experiences of Holocaust survivors told after their liberation and also reflecting their later ‘second ‘lives’.
You will find us at the Leipzig Book Fair in Hall 4, Stand A 303
The International Auschwitz Committee feels it is very important, especially now, to demonstrate its presence. Similarly, it is just vital for the survivors themselves to pass on their memories to the following generations. And they also feel it is essential to add to these experiences from the world of ashes and barbed wire by telling about their impressions and experiences of their lives afterwards. The huge increase in anti-Semitism, far-right extremist violence, populist hatred and absurd – equally anti-Semitic – conspiracy theories is weighing heavily on the survivors at this time, but it is definitely strengthening them in their position.
From Friday 28 April onwards, Christoph Heubner, author and Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee will be at the Leipzig Book Fair and available for conversations and interviews.
In addition to this, we are offering an open invitation to the reading from Christoph Heubner’s latest book "Als wir die Maikäfer waren" (When we were the Maybugs) which completes his trilogy of Auschwitz stories, published by Steidl Verlag:
